The Performance Group 1 is an invitation-based class designed for intermediate dancers to create and make performance-ready ongoing choreographic content. Students will work with instructors to develop their choreographic and performative skills with a strong focus on increasing dynamic range and complexity of movement vocabulary. This class combines Ballet, Contemporary, and Theatrical sensibilities to guide students toward a deep understanding of the eclecticism and cross-pollination of dance forms. Students in the Performance Group represent MST Dance Academy in local events, anchor our inaugural mid-year production, and form the core of student leaders at MST. Please note this class meets twice a week on Mondays at the Annex @ 7-8pm and Wednesdays @ MST 6:30-8pm, and carries a requirement of registration and participation in at least one other technique class per week.

Students will work with instructors to develop their choreographic and performative skills with a strong focus on increasing dynamic range and complexity of movement vocabulary. This class combines Ballet, Contemporary, and Theatrical sensibilities to guide students toward a deep understanding of the eclecticism and cross-pollination of dance forms. Students in the Performance Group represent MST Dance Academy in local events, anchor our inaugural mid-year production, and form the core of student leaders at MST. Please note this class meets twice a week on Mondays (7:15-8:30pm @ MST)and Wednesdays (7-8:30pm @ the Annex) and requires registration of and partipation in at least one other technique class.

Ages 8-10

A fun and vigorous class devoted to Broadway-style jazz dance. Class consists of a floor warm-up series incorporating stretching and strengthening exercises in flow with the music. This is followed by standing combinations and traveling dance phrases featuring turns, jumps, and often sass. Students will learn the syncopated rhythms of jazz dance, will move with staccato control, and will perform with energetic theatricality.

Ages 10-12

A fun and vigorous class devoted to Broadway-style jazz dance. Class consists of a floor warm-up series incorporating stretching and strengthening exercises in flow with the music. This is followed by standing combinations and traveling dance phrases featuring turns, jumps, and often sass. Consisting of a brief warm up and longer, flowing combinations set to pop music, this class combines contemporary forms with a soulful hip hop sensibility
